The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) just released their first draft of MI Healthy Climate Plan so our state can be a leader in fighting the climate crisis. The plan is a great start, but there is also some room for improvement. There are some important ways that the MI Healthy Climate Plan can create ambitious goals for Michiganders while paying close attention to bringing positive change to rural communities. By making strides towards rural electrification, sustainable food systems, and community-led energy planning, we can make some real progress in meeting our climate goals from Copper Harbor all the way down to Charlotte.
