Jack Bergman is unaccountable. As our elected representative, he’s not telling the truth. He peddled conspiracy theories about our election and voted to overturn legitimate results, which contributed to the violent, white supremacist attack on the Capitol.
But Jack Bergman is only the tip of the iceberg. He didn’t rise into power by himself. He was supported by political donors who cut him a check to protect their interests. Some of these donors are now withdrawing their support for the Sedition Caucus who spread lies about the election and agree that we must hold them accountable.
We have the names of everyone who’s donated $500 or more to Bergman in the last two years. Will you sign our petition urging Jack Bergman’s top donors to ask for their donations to be refunded and pledge to never give him money again?
The harsh truth is that Bergman is remorseless and self-serving; we can’t ever expect him to willingly resign or suddenly become a responsible public servant.
To get his attention, we need to hit him where it really hurts: his bank account. If we get a wave of previous Jack Bergman supporters to withdraw their contributions and pledge to never donate to him again — we can hold him accountable for trying to trample over our democracy.
Every day more Republicans are agreeing that Trump, Bergman, and their friends in the Sedition Caucus crossed the line by inciting the January 6 insurrection. A recent poll found that two-thirds of Trump voters oppose the insurrectionists who attacked the Capitol and 41 percent of them believe that Trump “betrayed the values and interests of the Republican Party.”1
As a result, a record number of Republicans and corporations have already requested refunds on their political contributions in the past week.
